Mr Joe Baini (Non-Executive Chairman)
Mr Baini was appointed to Non-Executive Chairman on 7 July 2010 and has over 20 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Mr Baini is a Director and founder of consulting company eXec Factor Pty Ltd.
Prior to this Mr Baini was the General Manager of Gilead
Sciences Australia, New Zealand and Asia, where he achieved
significant commercial success in launching drugs for the treatment
of HIV and hepatitis B. Mr Baini was a senior member of Gilead’s
International Commercial Committee responsible for investigating
opportunities for expansion into new territories. Prior to Gilead,
Mr Baini was Marketing Director for Bayer Australia.
Mr Baini has also held management positions at Pharmacia &
Upjohn, and Merck Sharpe and Dohme.
Mr Baini is currently on the Board of the BioMelbourne Network. Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology and Biochemistry from the University of Melbourne, Mr Baini has also completed extensive coursework in marketing, product management and situational leadership.
Mr Steven Crowley (Non-Executive Director)
Mr Crowley joined the Board on 7 July 2010 as a Non-Executive Director of the Company and brings almost 30 years experience in healthcare industries. He has held senior roles with Janssen-Cilag, Merck and Glaxo-Wellcome. Mr Crowley is currently the Director of S&J Crowley Consulting Pty Ltd, part of the Omni Health Solutions collaboration, a leading health economic consultancy to the pharmaceutical and medical devices sector, including in the area of infectious diseases and specifically HIV therapies. He is also a senior lecturer in health economics at The University of Melbourne.
Mr Bruce Hewett (Non-Executive Director)
Mr Jet Soedirdja (Non-Executive Director)
Mr Soedirdja is an experienced Director in Australia and overseas and brings extensive experience in investment markets. Mr Soedirdja has been a Non-Executive Director of Mosaic Oil (ASX.MOS), an Australian oil exploration company, and PT Dragon Capital Management, an investment group based in Indonesia. He was also Non-Executive Director and Joint Chairman of PT Bumindo Energi International, a contractor company.
He is currently an investment advisor at Bell Potter Securities and has held advisor roles at RBS Morgans (formerly ABN Amro Morgans) and Credit Suisse First Boston.
Mr Stephen Kerr (Company Secretary)
Mr Kerr received his Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University in 1984 and has more than 25 years experience in finance. A qualified Chartered Accountant since 1987, he is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Company Secretaries of Australia. Mr Kerr commenced his career in chartered accounting before moving into the corporate environment. He has held senior finance and company secretarial positions with a number of public and private companies in Australia and New Zealand including Freightways Limited (NZ) and the formerly ASX listed Ausdoc Group Limited. Mr Kerr has extensive experience in finance, corporate governance, merger and acquisition transactions and capital raisings. Mr Kerr joined Avexa in March 2009 and holds the position of Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary.
